We're here for you whether you need a regular check-up, are feeling overwhelmed with school, are in need of birth control, or think you might be pregnant. Whatever your concern, just come in and talk to us. We can help.

We provide the following services:

  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)/HIV: We provide testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) including chlamydia, gonorrhea and other diseases you can get from oral, vaginal or anal sex. We also provide HIV testing.
  • Birth control: We provide birth control such as the pill, the patch, the ring, Depo-Provera ("the shot") and condoms. We also offer or refer for other forms of birth control such as intrauterine devices (IUDs) or implants.
  • Emergency contraception: Medication known as the "morning after pill," can be taken by girls and women after sex to help prevent pregnancy. You can use emergency contraception if you didn't use a condom or birth control, or if you think they didn't work. It's important to take it as soon as possible after sex and within 72 hours (3 days). No appointment is necessary for emergency contraception. Just come in.
  • Pregnancy tests.

You do not need to have your parent or guardian with you to get sexual and reproductive health care. You can ask for a confidential visit if you would like birth control, testing or treatment for STDs or any other type of sexual health care, like HIV testing. The doctor cannot tell anyone about your visit without your permission.

All NYC Health + Hospital YouthHealth sites provide primary care. That means you can get:

  • Check-ups
  • Sports physicals or exams for working papers
  • Immunizations ("shots")
  • Care for conditions such as asthma
  • Advice about eating and exercise
  • Care when you feel sick

For these services you will need to bring your parent or guardian with you, especially if you are visiting for the first time. But they can sign a form so that you can go by yourself for other regular visits.

Most NYC Health + Hospitals facilities offer nutrition counseling and weight management programs and support groups. We also offer a free Fit Kid & Fit Teen Coaching Program at the following pediatric primary care clinics:

This program combines counseling with health coaching to help you follow through on your weight goals. Health coaches meet with new participants following a referral from a primary care doctor and continually engage with you by providing ongoing feedback via phone, text, or email.

If you are interested in extra support to reach a healthy weight, talk to your primary care doctor (at any NYC Health + Hospitals facility) about a referral to the Fit Kid & Fit Teen Coaching Program.

Playing a sport is an important part of many young people's lives. Some sports can be demanding on your body. It is important that you get a physical exam before starting any sport. If an injury occurs while playing a sport, you should always get it checked out by a doctor no matter how small the injury is. Our doctors can help decide the best care for your injury.
