Mental Health

Mental health is our emotional well-being. If you’re stressed or depressed, we can help.

Behavioral health or wellness is our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also plays a part in how we deal with stress, relate to others, and make choices. It is important in every stage of our lives. Mental illness is different. These are diagnosable mental disorders involving changes in emotions, thinking, or behavior (or a mix) causing major distress and/or problems in social, school, or work activities or with peer and family relationships. They can be prevented when caught early or treated with therapy and sometimes medication.

Sometimes you may feel overwhelmed with school, family, friends, partners, or other issues in your life. You may even feel self-conscious about how other people view you. These are a normal part of growing up. But when your feelings are getting in the way of your daily activities, you may want to talk to someone to help you feel better or seek advice. Talking to a friend, family or someone outside of the situation like a religious leader, teacher, coach, or school counselor can help.

But sometimes myths and stigma due to a lack of understanding from others about mental health and mental illness stop people from seeking help. If you don’t have someone to talk to, we are here for you. At our YouthHealth sites, medical and mental health providers are able to talk to adolescents and young adults about your mental health which is just as important as your physical health.

Come into one of our locations and we will find you someone to talk to about your problems, however big or small.
