Primary Care

Primary Care includes regular check-ups to keep you healthy. Make appointments every year.

Primary care includes regular check-ups, sports physicals, exams for working papers, and immunizations (also known as "shots"), care for conditions such as asthma, advice on diet and exercise, and medical attention when feeling ill. For a primary care visit, you must come with a parent or guardian. Once you have completed your first visit, they can sign a form allowing you to attend regular visits alone.

All NYC Health + Hospitals YouthHealth sites provide primary care. That means you can get:

  • Routine Health Care (Check-ups)
  • Sports physicals or exams for working papers
  • Immunizations (also known as "shots")
  • Care for conditions such as asthma
  • Advice about eating and exercise
  • Care when you feel sick

For these services you will need to bring your parent or guardian with you, especially if you are visiting for the first time. But they can sign a form so that you can go by yourself for other regular visits.
